Gemma Atkinson, who became a star with the teenage soap ‘Hollyoaks’, is said to be hosting a show on Indian culture. Tentatively titled ‘Fistful of Rice’ the show is being produced by Sunil Bohra who is currently producing ‘Mohalla Mohabbatwala’ (SAB).

When contacted, Sunil says, “We are in talks with Gemma. We will have a better picture of the situation in a few days.” Elaborating on the concept, Sunil adds, “The show is a narrative of the cultures of India. It will showcase Indian weddings, festivals and poojas.”

The show has been conceptualised and will be directed by Sunil’s brother Vivek Bohra, who has assisted Karan Johar. It is learnt that Vivek had left for London on Saturday night to meet Gemma and formalise the contract. The show is being made for a global audience and will be telecast on a leading channel in the United Kingdom.

Although the show is based on the culture of India, the producers chose an international personality to host it so that she could gain connectivity with the international audience. The shooting is expected to commence in the next few weeks.

Gemma is known for her bold image. She has appeared in provocative photoshoots in lingerie and swimwear, including topless shots, for several men’s magazines. She had become one of the most celebrated models in the UK.

She reportedly had an on-off relationship with Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo — who made news after his close brush with Bipasha Basu recently. Gemma herself fell into controversy after reportedly having a fling with one of Cristiano’s team mates.

Model-actress and Cristiano Ronaldo’s girlfriend Gemma Atkinson isn’t looking forward to wearing a ghaghra choli.

She's better known as footballer Cristiano Ronaldo's girlfriend. While the Portuguese footballer had his 15 seconds of Indian fame, now, it's time for model-cum-actress Gemma Atkinson to get a taste of India.

The sexy actress will be coming to India in October and will stay here for two months to host a television show that will feature Indian weddings.

"There is so much more to India than just the poverty that is usually portrayed . The real grandeur of the country comes out in its lavish weddings," says director Vivek Bohra. The show will have Gemma visit weddings taking place in even remote villages, discovering Indian traditions along the way.

Why choose Gemma to host an Indian show? "Gemma's got a certain energy about her, she's open to meeting new people and discovering things. She's a familiar celebrity with both Western and Indian audiences, and that is essential since the show will reach out to people across the world," explains Vivek.

Gemma is excited too. "I've heard and seen a lot about India and its culture, cuisines, fashion and places and now I'm going to be a part of it. It would be a pleasant change to try on a ghaghra choli and a saree , though I'd need some help doing that!" laughs the spunky host-to-be , who will be learning Hindi for the show.

And will her beau, Ronaldo, accompany her? "He might come to visit for a couple of days," says Anil.

It'll be interesting to see what Gemma is like as a tv host, it'll be good to see her on tv again.

I guess it must be true given that there is a statement from Gemma also in the story. Whatever it is, i'm surely looking forward to seeing Gemma on tv in India

It will be interesting to see what she is like as a presenter, but it will be more interesting to see how India take to her! I dont see them being too happy that a glamour model, is doing a documentary about Indian culture, a culture that prides itself on dignity and respect. I know it was an Indian who cast her, but it strikes me as a very strange choice that a nation who classify public displays of affection as offensive would be happy that a woman who's career centers around being naked is in any position to talk about Indian culture...

I visit India and other Asian countries on behalf of the company i work for and you might be surprised to know that magazines like fhm and loaded are there already.

The firm that are making this series would not of hired Gemma if it would hurt them in anyway do you not think the TV company would have done it's homework.

well, i reckon that this might be Gemma's way of breaking away from the "Sensual " and "only sensual" mould. Like JAGS said, in today's times India does allready have everything, for Sara, including open-mindedness and as long as Gemma's not out there to mock Indian culture, i think it'll be great.
