RACY Gemma Atkinson is set to rev up Formula 1 as the glamorous new face of the British Grand Prix.

The former Hollyoaks hottie, 22, is to be the official mascot for the UK leg of the hi-octane championship at Silverstone on July 8.

And the car-mad babe can’t wait to get into top gear.

She says: “I was quite a tomboy when I was little and spent most of my childhood in the garage with my dad building cars.”

It’s a dream job for the Lancashire lass, who reckons the secret to her sensational bod is fried food – made by her mum because Gemma can’t cook.

“She sorts me out all the time,” says Gemma from Bury. “Being up north I have my chippy dinners. Eat what you want but just work out a lot, that’s my motto.”

It has certainly done the trick. The star, who refuses to be a slave to slimming, has already become the latest body of La Senza underwear, thanks to her amazing curves.

She says: “I don’t think women should diet at my age, it’s not natural. My best diet tip? Don’t! If you’ve got the curves, flaunt them.”

According to pals, the Formula 1 gig is just the job for Gemma.

One said: “She has always been crazy about cars and can’t wait to get involved in all the trackside action.

“The drivers are known to love a pretty girl so I’m sure she will lap up the attention.”

Here’s hoping her amazing chassis doesn’t distract them so much they end up making an unexpected pit stop.

Gemma, the successful model and former Hollyoaks star, is all geared up to set pulses racing as all eyes start to focus on this year’s British Grand Prix, taking place on 6-8 July. In her role as the Female Face of the British Grand Prix, F1 fan Gemma will add an extra touch of glamour to the intensity and excitement of the country’s most breathtaking sporting event.

Etihad Aldar Spyker Formula One Team helped set the scene by supplying a F1 car as Gemma was officially unveiled as the Female Face of the 2007 FORMULA 1™ Santander British Grand Prix. Packed with high octane thrills, this year’s British Grand Prix promises to be more exciting than ever as four British drivers - Jenson Button, David Coulthard, Anthony Davidson and wonder-kid Lewis Hamilton - all head to Silverstone to tackle one of the fastest and most challenging F1 circuits in the world.

Gemma Atkinson said: “I’m a huge F1 fan, so the opportunity to be part of the British Grand Prix is fantastic for me. I’ve never been before but I’ve heard that the atmosphere is amazing.
